The Florida Eye Clinic has grown to an impressive 11-practice clinic of ophthalmologists and optometrists with a state-of-the-art Ambulatory Surgical Center at our home practice in Altamonte Springs.

The Front Desk facilitates the process of patient flow by performing specific functions designed to efficiently and effectively schedule, receive, and discharge patients. In a fast-paced ophthalmology practice, seeking an individual to fill a permanent, full-time front office position. Primary duties include answering phones, making/rescheduling appointments, inputting patient information, and verifying insurance. Must be organized, multi-task, energetic, and possess a positive, professional, friendly attitude. Spanish speaking is a plus.
The Front Desk Receptionist must:
Be a high school graduate or equivalent
Type accurately
Have excellent customer service skills
Maintains a log for patient registration and patient appointments.
Schedules patient appointments based on the specific medical parameters of each physician’s practice.
Accurately enters appointments into the patient management system.
Adjusts schedule as necessary.
Provides the patient with a written appointment card.
Assists in obtaining and updating patient demographic and insurance information.
Compiles the patient medical record, attaches an Encounter form for each patient visit, and directs to responsible individuals.
Reviews the Encounter forms and determines payment due.
Collects payments and records all transactions.
Calculates and balances all monies collected daily.
Greets all patients in a warm and friendly manner.
Communicates information and directs patient concerns for appropriate resolution.
Order office clerical supplies by the procedures set by the Purchasing dept.
Any other duties and responsibilities as assigned
Operates standard office equipment including Computer, bankcard terminal, multi-line telephone, and calculator.
Aptitudes: Audio and verbal ability, ability to make simple calculations, ability to organize.
Techniques and Procedures: Requires 100% interaction with people, manual skill to the extent of 95 – 100%, lifting and reaching limited to 90 – 95%, and sitting and standing to the time of 90 – 100%.
Ability to deliver and gather information throughout the clinic and ambulatory surgery center.
Ability to lift and carry 2-5 lbs. of paperwork
Ability to stoop, walk, bend, stand
Ability to sit for an extended period
Ability to push and pull medical records cart, as needed, for a limited distance
$15.00/per hour ++, to commensurate with experience.
The Ophthalmic Technician begins each patient’s eye examination before the physician’s examination by completing routine tests and assessments following standard protocols.
The Ophthalmic Technician shall:
– Have a post-high school education
– Be computer literate
– Be certified as an Ophthalmic Technician (desired)
– Have prior work experience as an Ophthalmic Technician (desired)
The Ophthalmic Technician reports to the Technician Supervisor and interacts cooperatively with the patients, physicians, and other clinic personnel. The Ophthalmic Technician must maintain patient confidentiality.
1. Records patients’ medical and visual histories.
2. Checks patients near and distant visual acuities.
3. Administers eye drops when instructed to anesthetize, dilate or medicate.
4. Performs refractometry/manifest and cycloplegia.
5. Performs visual fields testing (desired)
6. Assists physicians during patient examinations if necessary.
7. Performs Amsler tests.
8. Checks muscle balance and motility (essential).
9. Checks versions and ductions (essential).
10. Checks pupils, including Pupil size, Reaction, and +/- APD.
12. Performs retinoscopy (desired)
13. Performs slit lamp exams of the anterior segment.
14. Completes appropriate consent and other forms.
15. Performs keratometer readings. (desired)
16. Performs Schirmers tests, Osmolarity testing, and Inflammadry testing.
17. Checks angles temporal and nasal
18. Neutralizes lenses with a lensometer.(automated/ manual)
19. Checks fit of contact lenses (desired)
20. Performs glare testing with BAT.
21. Performs tension checks.
22. Performs Worth and Wirt testing- stereo & fusion.
23. Performs color vision screenings.
24. Educate patients regarding the administration of medications, and pre and post-operative instructions as directed by the physician.
25. Blood pressure and pulse
26. Cleans, rinses, and patches eyes as needed
27. Checks messages and medication lines as needed.
1. Stocks supply within the work area and replenish as needed.
2. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
3. A technician will be assigned alternate responsibilities on a permanent or intermittent basis.
4. Travel to assist other doctors in satellite locations as needed.

The Billing Specialist bills insurance companies for all physician bills. Pursues collection of all claims till payment is made by insurance companies. Performs other work associated with the billing process.
The Billing Specialist is a member of the billing department and reports directly to the Billing Supervisor and interacts cooperatively with the Clinic Administrator, staff, and patients.
Operates standard office equipment, including a computer terminal, calculator, facsimile machine, copier, and multi-line phone.
Aptitudes: Ability to make simple to more complex calculations and organize audio and verbal knowledge.
Techniques and Procedures: Requires 50-100% interaction with people, standing 30-50%, sitting 80-90%, manual dexterity to the extent of 90%, lifting and reaching limit to 40%.
Ability to sit and stand for extended periods.
Ability to bend and stoop.
Ability to lift and carry 2-5 lbs. of paperwork.
Personal presence is required at the employer’s facility.
